Welcome to Middle School
Encouraging a Higher Level of Thinking

The middle school consists of sixth - eighth grades, which are some of the most transitional grades for a student. In order to meet the educational and emotional needs of the middle grades learner, CCA has developed a schedule that allows for challenging academics, exploratories, and study hall. Students switch classes, exchange teachers, and interact with different student groups throughout the day. In addition to the core subjects of math, science, English, social studies, and Bible, CCA offers a wide range of elective classes. Chorus, art, band, computer, STEM, yearbook, home ec, and introduction to speech are rotating electives depending on grade level.

Teachers use a variety of instructional methods and activities to actively engage the students. The use of technology to enhance learning increases in middle school. Projects, cooperative learning, and field trips add to the middle school experience. The BJU Press textbook curriculum encourages higher level thinking skills while glorifying God. CCA uses MAP (Measure of Academic Progress), an online standardized test, to monitor the academic growth of our students throughout the year.

An intentional focus on Biblical Worldview formation begins in the middle school years. Chapel is held on a weekly basis with student led worship followed by a speaker. Middle school students are encouraged to take part in a variety of community service opportunities. Seventh and eighth grade students attend a 3 day spiritual emphasis retreat each fall. Numerous after school clubs and sports complement the academic and spiritual focus of CCA.
