Welcome to Elementary School
Encouraging a Higher Level of Thinking

The elementary school consists of students in K5 through 5th grade. The core subjects in the elementary school include Bible, reading, phonics, spelling, vocabulary, writing, grammar, mathematics, science and social studies.  Teachers strive to present materials to meet the needs of all learners by using a variety of instructional methods and activities to actively engage the students.

The elementary curriculum includes Orton-Gillingham based phonics instruction, a structured literacy approach to teaching reading - including explicit vocabulary and comprehension instruction, hands-on math and science instruction that encourages learners to think critically, and engaging history lessons and projects.  All subjects are presented through a Biblical world view.  Field trips are taken during the year to enhance the students’ learning.

Daily Bible instruction includes learning about who God is, His plan to rescue the world from sin through His son Jesus Christ, how we can come to know Jesus as our savior, and how we can apply Biblical truths to our daily lives.   To reinforce a strong relationship with God, students have a weekly chapel that includes praise and worship and an age appropriate speaker. Several mission opportunities are available throughout the year, such as a canned food drive, Operation Christmas Child, cards for veterans, and Soldier Boxes.

Media and technology are incorporated to strengthen lessons, but they do not replace the use of textbooks, paper, and pencils. CCA uses MAP (Measure of Academic Progress), an online standardized test, to monitor the academic growth of our students throughout the year.

Weekly enrichment classes include art, music, STEM/computer, PE and library. Fifth grade students participate in either band or chorus three times a week.

In order to meet the needs of every uniquely created child, CCA has designed four distinct supplemental programs for learning support and enrichment through our Learning Solutions Program.
